Last Tuesday's "iZombie" season 1 episode was met with a collective giddy sigh followed by cries of woe and disbelief.
When Liv (Rose McIver) found out that Lowell (Bradley James) was getting his breakfast, lunch and dinner from Blaine (David Anders) and his special brain delivery for zombies, several viewers thought the smooth-talking musician was a bad guy. However, "Patriot Brains" proved that theory wrong.
In fact, after realizing what he did, he gave Liv a heartfelt apology and even told her that he loved her. The confession was made even more significant by the end of the episode when Lowell sacrificed himself for Liv.
After realizing what kind of brains he had been eating and finding out that Liv couldn't kill Blaine off, Lowell decided that he should do the job for her. Unfortunately, the former drug dealer-turned zombie mafia boss had amazing reflexes and pulled a gun on him instead.
Needless to say, that final "I love you" he mouthed to Liv broke not just her heart but the hearts of the millions of fans watching the show as well.
Is Lowell really, actually dead? After all, the audience wasn't privy to the rest of the scene apart from Blaine pulling the gun on Lowell's forehead.
In TV Fanatic's round table discussion, a general wish for Lowell's safety was apparent. However, Whitney Evans thought that his death needed to be real.
"This makes the battle against Blaine more personal than ever and we'll all be rooting for Liv to get justice," Evans shared. "I feel like Lowell wasn't necessarily envisioned to be a long term option for Liv, but instead her first foray into dating after becoming a zombie."
Whether Lowell's death was real or not, it looks like Bradley James really captured viewers' attention and affection. He will definitely be one of the most memorable (recurring) guests in "iZombie" season 1.
Meanwhile, CarterMatt reported a couple of characters a bit off their minds in episode 10. Major (Robert Buckley) will "believe he's going crazy" while Liv will consume the brain of an alcoholic.
