Matthew Healy Reveals 1975 New Album Progress! Release Date Most Likely Happening In September!

The English indie band The 1975 is expected to release a new album this year following their highly successful self titled debut record in 2013.

While the band has yet to confirm the exact release date, the band's frontman Matthew Healy revealed that their sophomore album will mostly likely hit the shelves in September this year.

Talking to Alternative Press, Matthew Healy candidly shared the progress of their record, claiming that "a lot of new music" will be availble for the new album. However, he tried to keep things kept underwraps as much as possible.

"We've been (writing) quite a lot and there's a lot of new music for the next record -- but I'm not supposed to talk about it at the moment," Healy explained. "We don't even know what it is yet, really. It needs time to become its own thing. We've got a very good idea of what's going on, but that could change, too."

Futhermore, Healy said that the band agreed to release new album every after two years, thus there's a high chance for fans to hear their new music this year.

"[The goal is to] put out an album two years to the day when we put out the last one -- or at least as close as we can get," the English musician said. "So it will come out on a Monday (Tuesday in the U.S.) in September of 2015."

Meanwhile, the indie pop rock band is reportedly having a rift with their British boy band counterpart, One Direction according to Sugar Scape.

"Matty has had a right old rant about 1D sounding like The 1975," an alleged insider close to the group told The Sun. "He has told several close mates about how wound up he is by the situation."

"Matt feels like Harry and the boys have pinched The 1975's very unique sound. It won't be something they've done on purpose. But they would hardly be the first band in history to have been influenced by their peers."
