Queen Elizabeth II may not have been present during Princess Charlotte's birth but the 89-year-old sovereign clearly loved having another great granddaughter to her growing brood.
It looks like the Queen's excitement for the newest royal baby was doubled with Prince William and Kate Middleton naming their daughter after her. The new princess is officially called Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge.
According to The Mirror, the British monarch gushed about the newborn princess to the 8,000 guests who attended a tea party at the Buckingham Palace last Tuesday.
"I told her I'm so happy at the arrival of another baby," 84-year-old Susan Pollock reportedly greeted the Queen. "I said, 'Congratulations.'"
The monarch then replied with "Yes, we love to have another girl," as she smiled at Pollock.
Many of the visitors congratulated the Queen on her new great grandchild but one made the mistake of calling the Duke and Duchess' youngest child her granddaughter.
"I said [to the Queen] congratulations on your new granddaughter-she corrected me and said, 'No, great granddaughter'," Carole Weston from Essex shared to the publication.
Queen Elizabeth II already has five great grandchildren. The other four are Princess Charlotte's brother Prince George, Isla and Savannah Phillips and Mia Grace Tindall.
Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to Princess Charlotte on May 2 but her great-grandmother was in Sandringham, Norfolk then. The Queen visited the new royal baby as soon as she arrived home from her weekend trip.
Meanwhile, Prince William's brother, Prince Harry hasn't met the little princess yet sine he's still in New Zealand for a tour but her birth already positively affected her uncle.
The 30-year-old prince recently admitted that he has been thinking about settling down after receiving news of his niece's birth. Will Queen Elizabeth II expect another great grandchild sometime in the near future?
