| By

While fans can't wait to hear news about "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 release date, there is a chance that the anime adaptation to Sui Ishida's hit manga series will not happen this year.

Contrary to the previous reports, Anime News Network exclusively reported that a spin-off series featuring the story of Taishi Fura titled, "Tokyo Ghoul: Jack" is going to be released most likely in May of June this year,

Below is the synopsis to "Tokyo Ghoul: Jack"

"In 'Tokyo Ghoul: Jack,' an incident involving a human-devouring Ghoul occurs in Tokyo's 13th Ward. To seek the truth behind what happened to his friend, the rebellious high school boy Taishi Fura pursues the Ghoul named Lantern with the young ace investigator Kishō Arima. The story follows how the ace investigator Arima and the talented 7th Ward investigator Taishi Fura first met."

In line with the new development about the franchise, speculations went wild claiming that "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 could perhaps experience some minor set back with its release date in order to give way for the spin-off.

The launch of the spin-off show this year created spark that "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 release date may indeed be bumped to further date.

However, the anime developers have yet to comment on the news, thus nothing is final as of press time, who knows maybe they will release two "Tokyo Ghoul" series this year.

Whether "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 release date will happen this year or the next, the plot is reportedly going to adapt that of the manga series titled, "Tokyo Ghoul:re."

When-will.net claimed that the manga series sequel titled, "Tokyo Ghoul:re," is going to be adapted into anime, thus speculations arise that it might be what season 3 is all about.
