It's been five long years since Harmonix released an updated version of the original musical instrument-themed game.
Finally, the fans would get to see a new and improved version of the game this year.
Mad Catz announced that "Rock Band 4" is definitely happening this year featuring old and new songs for the gamers to enjoy.
"Due for release later this year on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, 'Rock Band 4' is going to BLOW YOU AWAY," it said on its statement.
"A love-letter to fans of the franchise, 'Rock Band 4' is set to take music gaming to the next level! In addition to a killer on-disc soundtrack, 'Rock Band 4' will support vast numbers of tracks released since the 2007 launch of the original 'Rock Band.' Harmonix is confident that day one, 'Rock Band 4' will deliver the most music, period!"
Mad Catz spokesperson Alex Verrey added that their company is responsible to "Rock Band 4" distribution and promotion while, Harmonix is in charge of the sales and supervision of DLC.
"Co-publishing the game allows us to work closer than ever before with Harmonix, delivering a seamless experience from game through hardware and ensuring that we focus on the needs of the gamer first and foremost," wrote Verrey (viaEurogamer).
While Harmonix is going to introduce new devices to be sold together with "Rock Band 4," VG247 said that the old plastic instruments will still be compatible for the new version of the game once it hits the shelves this year.
However, Harmonix COO Alex Rigopulos clarified that while fans are highly anticipating "Rock Band 4" release date, the company will no longer release yearly versions of the game, instead updates and modifications will be made via online upgrada.
"Going forward, our goal is to view [Rock Band 4] as more of a live service where we can gradually and incrementally append new functionality to the core experience rather than having $60 annual title updates," Rigopulos told IGN. "You shouldn't expect a Rock Band 5 in 2016."
While the "Rock Band 4" release date is all set this year, project manager Eric Pope promised fans of a better gaming experience than that of the original game. The new "Rock Band" boasts a 1080p resolution at 60 fps graphics and audio quality.
He told We Got This Covered that this time around gamers will experience a more realistic intrument playing.
"It's going to look 'next-gen' with more realistic lighting, character models, and animation," Pope said.
In addition, Pope revealed that "Rock Band 4" is now going to be fully equipt with online mulitiplayer battle feature, same with most games have to offer today.
"What, to me, is more exciting is the online infrastructure of the consoles," he explained. "It will open a lot [of] opportunities for us to support the game in more reactive, timely ways."
