It has been confirmed that there will be a new Spider-Man and the producers are allegedly looking for a young actor to star in the Marvel reboot since the storyline will focus on Peter Parker back in high school.
Last March, Mateus Ward was reportedly the top candidate for the remake since Logan Lerman and Dylan O'Brien are too old for the role.
Bad Ass Digest reported that the "Weeds" actor secretly auditioned for the role and it was held at his home. According to the website, if this pushes through, it will be the first that "Spider-Man" will feature a real high school-aged actor to portray Peter Parker.
As weeks go by, more names of young actors started to emerge including Nat Wolff, Tom Holland, Liam James, and Asa Butterfield. According to Latino Review, these actors are being considered for the role of Spider-Man.
It's been confirmed that Peter Parker will appear in "Captain America: Civil War" which will be released on May 6, 2016. Before the lucky actor debuts Spider-Man in the solo film in July 2017, fans will get to meet him in the upcoming Marvel movie which stars Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America and Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man.
The website reported that Asa Butterfield, who is known for his role in "Ender's Game", is the top candidate for the new Spider-Man. Some sources believe that he already got the role. "Marvel had liked him since day one," they claimed.
The 18-year-old heartthrob posted a selfie on Instagram wearing eyeglasses and some of his followers think he looks like the nerdy Peter Parker. Fanboy journalist Umberto Gonzales also believes that the English actor could be the next Spider-Man.
He recently shared a poster of "Captain America 3" which featured the web-slinging superhero with half of his mask ripped off. "Another hot #CivilWar poster featuring Asa Butterfield as SPIDER-MAN!" he wrote on Instagram.
