Dr. Leslie Thompkins is here to stay. Probably one of the best "Gotham" season 2 spoilers out there, TV line reported Morena Baccarin has been promoted into a series regular in the Fox TV series' sophomore run.
The 35-year old actress was featured in nine out of 22 episodes of "Gotham" which aired its finale on May 4. The entertainment website wrote:
"Gotham has formally upgraded Morena Baccarin to a series regular ahead of the show's upcoming second season, TVLine has learned exclusively."
Baccarin's role expanded as "Gotham" season one progressed. She started as a doctor in Arkham Asylum and then added to the GCPD where her character and Ben McKenzie's Jim Gordon developed a romance. In the show's finale, Thompkins and Gordon's former lover Barbara Gordon (Erin Richards) had a cat fight. Expect more "Gotham" season 2 spoiler news in the coming days.
Fish Mooney not be dead yet?
So the "Gotham" season 2 spoiler above talks of additional regular. What about the other pivotal character from the first season, Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith)?
The former mob boss was thrown out to the water by Robin Lord Taylor's Oswald Cobblepot, making viewers think she is gone for good. However, not everyone is convinced she is not coming back. Is she really gone for good? According to Smith herself, it is something fans should decide about.
"That's for the fans to determine. You saw the ending. She could be and she couldn't be. Who knows? It was an interesting ending," Smith said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
She also reiterated the fact that her contract did not include appearances in "Gotham" season 2.
"I signed for a year. I don't think any of us really thought that Fish would have the life that she's had or be one of the favorite characters on the show," the wife of Will Smith explained.
"She was there to service a purpose, as far as helping to tell Penguin's story. I never knew exactly what it was going to be, but she's not part of the original mythology. She was created for the television show specifically. I'm a smart girl. I understood I was there to service Penguin."
"Gotham" season 2 premiere will likely air this fall.
