The cast of Fox TV series "Empire" gets bigger and tremendously brighter. By "Empire" season 2, fans will get them spoiled as it has been confirmed three A-list musicians will join the show which stars Terrence Howard and Taraji Henson.
Fox TV chairman and CEO Dana Walden announced on Monday at an event in New York that actor-comedian Chris Rock, pop star Alicia Keys and singer and actor Lenny Kravitz will have roles in "Empire" season 2. He did not confirm though what their respective roles will be.
Before Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, and Lenny Kravitz, series creators Danny Strong and Lee Daniels expressed their desire to bring in Eminem, Common, Oprah, and Denzel Washington. In its first season, "Empire" featured the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Courtney Love, and Snoop Dogg.
Also added for "Empire" season 2 is RnB singer Ne-Yo but only as a musical producer. He will join Timbaland who was the main creator of most of the show's song in its successful first season.
"In other Empire news, Ne-Yo, who has spoken of his love for the show and desire to appear on it, has closed a deal to write music for Season 2, joining the series' music producer Timbaland," Deadline wrote. "There are no current plans for Ne-Yo to act on the series."
In another great "Empire" season 2 spoiler news, Fox ordered 18 episodes for the musical TV series, six more compared to its first season. However, the show will be cut into two with first half on fall and the second half to air on spring.
"We've got a lot of big events scheduled," Fox's other chairman and CEO Dana Walden said. "The cast has been out-Jussie [Smollett] and Yazz [Grey]-performing in various markets. They've done mall tours [and] performed in smaller venues. Taraji [P. Henson] hosted Saturday Night Live. We've got some exciting plans that will kick off in June."
