While fans are excitingly waiting for the official announcement of "Winds of Winter" release date, highly acclaimed author, George R.R. Martin candidly talked about the launching of his novel.
The 66-year-old writer-producer told Entertainment Weekly that he's looking into releasing "Winds of Winter" before "Game of Thrones" season 6 airs.
"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish," he explained. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done."
Furthermore the veteran author admitted that he "put it [Winds of Winter] aside for six months," instead of setting up a time table for its release date.
"I was so into it. I was pushing so hard that I was writing very well. I should have just gone on from there, because I was so into it and it was moving so fast then."
"But I didn't because I had to switch gears into the editing phase and then the book tour. The iron does cool off, for me especially."
And while there's no exact release date yet, there are ongoing rumblings and speculations about the connection of the novel to the TV series.
Warning possible spoilers ahead!
The "Song of Ice and Fire" shockingly witnessed the killing of an all-time favorite character, Jon Snow, in the hands of his Night's Watch brothers.
While there's no certainty that this is going to be adapted in the "Game of Thrones" TV series as well, recent episodes from season 5 are actually building the story of what caused the death of the beloved character.
The past few episodes of "Game of Thrones" featured Jon Snow's desire to unite with the Wildings since the Winter is coming. In the "Song of Ice and Fire" novel, the brothers of the Night's Watch insisted that no such thing should happen and when Ned Stark's bastard decided to break his vow, his brothers-in-arms had no choice but to ambush him as they whisper the words, "For the Watch."
But before fans could frantically, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the actor who portrays the the incestious brother of Cersei Lannister, Jamie Lannister, said that the TV series might most likely deviated from that of George R.R. Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire."
"He hasn't written the books, but he knows how he wants it to end. Well, I think he's written one of them now. I don't know when it comes out but I'd assume soon," Waldau said of Martin's "Winds of Winter" novel in an interview with Men's Health UK .
Adding, "All the details, they're going to have to come up with them themselves. It's going to be interesting because I think the show is going to finish before the last book comes out. There'll be quite a big difference when it does."
Meanwhile, George R.R. Martin teased fans that while they are waiting for the official "Winds of Winter" release date announcement, "Game of Thrones" season 6 is already in the works.
"I met with David Benioff and Dan Weiss and Bryan Cogman," he confirmed to Access Hollywood . "And we had a long talk about some of the stuff that will be included in Season 6, but we haven't started writing that one yet."
Again possible spoilers ahead.
Furthermore, he told Conan O'Brien that while characters who died in the novel does not neccesarily need to die in "Game of Thrones" series, those who did not die in the novel are not as well safe in the TV show.
"No one is safe," he warned.
"Even the book readers who say, 'Well, this character is safe, he's not in any trouble because he's still in book five', may have an unpleasant surprise," he revealed.
In conclusiong, George R.R. Martin assured fans that while he is involved in making "Game of Thrones" season 6, he's just waiting for the right time to announce the "Winds of Winter" release date.
