Stacey Dash is defending her decision to support Mitt Romney for president saying that it's her right to chose whoever she wants and during a recent interview with CNN, evoked Martin Luther King Jr. on Tuesday to explain why she's him over Barack Obama.
"I chose him not by the color of his skin, but the content of his character," the actress told CNN's Piers Morgan.
Stacy Dash, a gorgeous African American woman famous for her role in the 90's hit movie "Clueless", tweeted out: "Vote for Romney. The only choice for your future. @mittromney @teamromney #mittromney #VOTE #voteromney." She accompanied the tweet with a photo of herself and an American flag.
Within minutes, Dash got several haters commenting on her tweet saying that she isn't "black enough" and is a traitor to her race for endorsing Romney.
"I knew Stacey Dash was to good to be true after watching Clueless...This lady really is clueless...smh.." wrote Tyrell Smith (@ImmaculateSole).
Following many negative remarks, a new hashtag began to gain popularity #ISupportStaceyDash as more and more Twitter users came out in supporting her right to speak her mind without getting criticized for it.
Piers Morgan read some of these tweets to Stacey Dash. "This is somebody who tweeted, 'You're an unemployed black woman endorsing Mitt Romney. You're voting against yourself thrice, you poor beautiful idiot.' And somebody else just put, 'Kill yourself, you old hag,'" Morgan said, labeling the remarks "disgusting."
"I don't feel offended. I just feel that, you know, as a country, this is my choice," Dash responded. "This is the man [Romney] I want to lead my country."
A former Obama supporter in 2008, she told Morgan that she decided to switch parties after seeing the Romneys on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Other's tweeted support for the actress. "Idon't get why people are mad at Stacey Dash. She can vote for who wants to that's her right as an American," wrote #IAMACELTIC (@TheMasterBaiter) in support of Stacey Dash.
Meanwhile the 46 year old actress recently reunited with her "Clueless" co-stars for a reunion photo shoot for Entertainment Weekly's latest issue.
Stacey Dash, Alicia Silverstone, Elisa Donovan, Breckin Meyer, Donald Faison and Justin Walker all took part in the photo shoot. Although the Clueless family is now missing Brittany Murphy, who passed away in 2009, they gathered to lovingly reminisce about the 1995 cult classic.
