Following the highly successful debut of their self titled album in 2013, The 1975 is expected to release a new one this year.
The English indie band is reportedly going to launch a follow up record in September if things turn out right, frontman Matthew Healy revealed.
Alternative Press reported that the lead vocalist revealed progress about their sophomore album where they would introduce new music, different from their debut album.
"We've been (writing) quite a lot and there's a lot of new music for the next record -- but I'm not supposed to talk about it at the moment," Healy explained. "We don't even know what it is yet, really. It needs time to become its own thing. We've got a very good idea of what's going on, but that could change, too."
Since the new album is well on its way, the release date is expected to happen this year, following the band's agreement that they will launch the follow up record after two years.
"[The goal is to] put out an album two years to the day when we put out the last one -- or at least as close as we can get," the singer said. "So it will come out on a Monday (Tuesday in the U.S.) in September of 2015."
While the indie pop rock band is working on their new album, Sugar Scape reported that their is an ongoing rift between them and the British boy band, One Direction.
"Matty has had a right old rant about 1D sounding like The 1975," an alleged insider close to the group told The Sun. "He has told several close mates about how wound up he is by the situation."
"Matt feels like Harry and the boys have pinched The 1975's very unique sound. It won't be something they've done on purpose. But they would hardly be the first band in history to have been influenced by their peers."
The 1975 has yet to comment on the said issue.
