It seems like Konami is not having the best time right now.
Following announcement that "Silent Sills" is no longer pushing through, the highly anticipate game "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain," which will be the last work of Hideo Kojima for the game studio is facing a major controversy that could jeopardize the release date of the game.
The sequel to the action-adventure stealth video game is now being accused of using Italian-based neurosurgeon Dr. Sergio Canavero without persmission in the game.
While Kojima nor Konami did not mention anything about Canavero in the game, the trailer showed undeniable likeness of the surgeon to that of the doctor featured in "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain."
In addition to their resemblance, "MGSV: TPP's" surgeon allegedly mimics Dr. Canavero's upcoming head transplant surgery.
An officila police complaint against Konami and Hideo Kojima was already reported according to Motherboard.Vice.
"On April 19, 2015, I received in my email inbox an email coming from the UK from the account [redacted], containing a link which directed to the trailer of the upcoming video game Metal Gear Solid V Phantom Pain, produced by Konami in Japan," the report read. "The trailer features a video with a doctor with my physical likeness and a series of very violent scenes, some computer generated (presumably, they used an authentic video of me, which was then digitized, probably obtained from one of my TED Conference talks)."
"I do not have any suspects," he added. "I have nothing else to add except to declare my willingness to proceed against the people responsible for the facts explained here, which the judicial authority will observe as crimes."
Dr. Canavero confirmed the filing of the complaint to Business Insider.
"The Italian police are investigating the matter," he claimed.
Creators and developers of "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" have yet to release an official statement regarding the controversy.
Thus, it's not clear if this would indeed affect the release date of game, which is reportedly scheduled on Sept. 1, 2015.
