'Arrow' Season 3 Finale Will Be 2 Minutes Longer; Last Episode Will Answer Oliver Queen's Identity Struggle

| By

Oliver Queen is still the Emerald Archer Starling City used to know.

He may have spent the past few days at Nanda Parbat while being groomed as the heir to Ra's al Ghul but he hasn't changed. He is actually just pretending to be on the Head of the Demon's side. In recent "Arrow" season 3 episode guide / promo video released, the Arrow made Ra's known that he is not surrendering himself.

See the video below.

While the "Arrow" season 3 episode guide for the finale above suggests the partnership between the Emerald Archer and the Head of the Demon will come to an end, the time audience will see the CW TV series for one last time this season will be extended.

According to reports, the penultimate episode of the DC-based show's third run will be two minutes longer than the usual.

"Apparently Arrow's Season 3 finale is just too big to fit into a traditional 60-minute time block. The episode has had its time extended by 2 minutes and 33 seconds," Comicbook.com wrote later suggesting it could be because the show will used to introduce its new spinoff series called "Legends of Tomorrow." This new superhero show will feature Brandon Routh's Ray Palmer and Caity Lotz's Sarah Lance as well as Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold and Dominic Purcell's Heatwave from "The Flash."

"We're not sure what those extra minutes will hold, but the CW did just pick up Legends of Tomorrow for next season. Perhaps those two minutes are for a teaser trailer, or in episode setup, for the new spinoff show. Having to wait for Legends of Tomorrow to be officially picked up would explain why the Arrow finale wasn't extended until now. However, this is only speculation."

So the finale will be longer and fans should not be disappointed as the "Arrow" season 3 finale will answer the one question Oliver Queen cannot answer since the first episode.

"We've always said the season is about identity, and Oliver trying to decide between being the Arrow and being Oliver Queen," executive producer Marc Guggenheim tells Entertainment Weekly.

"That's obviously very present, as the title suggests, in the finale. Oliver's arc over the course of the last episodes of the season relates to this question of 'am I Oliver, or am I the Arrow.' [It's] very focused on that threesome."
