New rumors suggest that the upcoming Nexus device will be manufactured by Huawei, while a Chinese tech analysr speculates its features.
Last year, there had been rumors that Huawei will be the first Chinese phone manufacturer to partner with Google to create the next Nexus smartphone and today these rumors have been "seemingly confirmed" through a recent report of Gizmo China in which tech analyst Jiutang Pang claims he knows some details of the Huawei manufactured Nexus phone, GSM Arena reported.
According to Jiutang Pan, Research Head at the Shenzhen Huaqiang Electronics Research Institute, the upcoming Nexus device will sport a 5.7-inch QHD (2,560x1,440) touchscreen. It will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 SoC, says the analyst. Though in previous rumors Huawei is still in dilemma between Hi-Silicon Kirin chip or Snapdragon 810.
But many have doubts if the Chinese tech giant will pull off a 2K display since it already expressed its dislikes over 2K resolution.
"I don't think we need QHD display on mobiles. Your eyes totally cannot identify between full HD and 2K on a smartphone. You can't distinguish the difference, so it's totally nonsense, said Huawei CEO Richard Yu in an interview with Techradar at the Paris launch event for Ascend P7. (via IB Times)
"We can [put a QHD display on a smartphone], but it's very bad for power consumption and it does not offer anything in return. Your eyes cannot see the difference, so why should we do that? I think it's a stupid thing," Yu added.
Moreover Pocket Lint added that more details is expected to be announced at Google's annual I/O developer conference schedule to be held on 28 and 29 of May, at Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco.
