Following announcement that "Avatar 2" release date will be delayed, there's an ongoing speculation claiming that it has probably something to do with a fifth movie.
Slash Film reported that the movie's music composer, James Horner, who recently had an interview with "Hey U Guys" revealed that there's actually one more film in addition to the planned trilogy.
"Right now Jim has four sequels, script wise, Horner was quoted saying. "And he's trying to make it into three. And that is where, I think, his effort is going right now. To keep it to three sequels. Because he's got so much going on how do you keep it from expanding into a fifth movie, total. And he'll get that sorted out."
James Cameron previously stated that the reason why he had to delay the release date of "Avatar 2" was because he wanted to finish all of the scripts from the franchise prior to production. Thus, the new development suggesting that there's actually a fifth movie makes Cameron's reason all the more understandable.
Furthermore the director and creator of the "Avatar" series assures fans that there's nothing to be worried about the delays since everything is under control.
"There's nothing I need to say as an artist about the state of the world and human affairs that I can't do through the lens of the Avatar universe, he said in a report by IGN We've had a couple of years to think through the story arc of the next three films, and every day that goes by, I believe in the stories I'm telling more and more. We're not coming out of the block fast to capitalize on the last film."
While "Avatar 2" release date has been pushed back to Dec. 25, 2017, its sequels will not be affected according to Crossmap.
"We expect to be able to accelerate the process quite a bit, because we've improved a lot of the software and the computer graphics tools, and we've been working very closely with Weta Digital down here in New Zealand developing a whole new suite of tools to speed up the process," the director explained of the sequels' process.
Adding, "We're writing three simultaneously. And we've done that so that everything tracks throughout the three films. Were' not just going to do one and then make up another one and another one after that and parallel with that, we're doing all the design. So we've designed all the creatures and the environments."
