It's been four years since Red Hot Chili Peppers has released an album, which was titled "I'm With You."
Now fans are clamoring for the American rock band to finally launch a new album and that's supposedly what they are about to do sometime in the near future.
While Red Hot Chili Peppers has yet to fomally announce a release date for their new record, the band's bassist Flea, apparently tweeted that they are now starting to record tracks for the album.
The said tweet was soon deleted, but Alternative Nation was able screen capture and post the announcement.
The deleted tweet also included the name of the surprise producer, who is Danger Mouse.
Drummer Chad Smith, previously confirmed Flea's announcement, saying that Red Hot Chili Peppers is indeed working on a new album, and while he did not mention a specific release date, he said that the band is aiming for a 2015 launch in his interview with Rolling Stone late last year.
"We've already recorded some of the songs, just a few that we've been working on. But this is also going to be in addition to those. It's a new process. I don't know how long it's going to take. We'll have a record out next year," the 53-year-old drummer and doppleganger to comedian Will Ferrell said.
"The new album is shaping up good, man," Smith added.
"We've got lots of songs, and we're working with an unnamed producer who is really challenging us to find new ways to come up with new music. We've done the 'guys get in the room and jam out songs, everybody playing together all at once' thing. And we wrote a bunch of songs that way. And we're now going to try another method that will be really challenging for us and will bring new, exciting results for the band. We've written and recorded in a way that we've never done before, so the record is going great. We all have high hopes that it's going to take off and we're going to do something very different and unique for the Red Hot Chili Peppers."
Flea added that they are already rehearsing the new tracks before getting into recording, Rolling Stone reported.
"We've been writing and rehearsing, rolling up our sleeves, getting in the studio and doing it," Flea claimed. "We're nearly finished writing. We'll go in the studio sometime in the next couple of months."
And while Flea and the rest of the band members are busy recording for the new album, former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist, John Frusciante is also busy with his solo projects, but he insisted that his friendship with the RHCP bassist remains to be strong.
"Flea and I had it the first time we played together," Frusciante said in an interview with Uproxx. "There was something there. But we developed it. Flea once read something [jazz drummer] Elvin Jones said about having chemistry with somebody: 'You gotta be willing to die for a motherf*cker.'"
