The first of many "Vikings" season 4 spoilers to come. The original History Channel TV series has bulked up for its fourth run by hiring three actors for intriguing roles, all of them labeled as regulars.
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Finnish actors Peter Franzen ("The Gunman") and Jasper Paakkonen ("Frozen Land" & "Secret Lives") as well as Dianne Doan ("Once Upon a Time") have been added to the show.
"Franzen will play King Harald Finehair, a Scandinavian warrior and potential threat to Ragnar (Travis Fimmel). Paakkonen is set to play Halfdan the Black, Finehair's younger brother. Doan will portray Yidu, a new and unique Chinese character who will have a big role in season four," THR wrote in its "Vikings" season 4 spoiler.
Expect big changes come the fourth season as according to series creator Michael Hirst, there will be a time jump in the show. Hirst shared this "Vikings" season 4 spoiler shortly after the series finale last month wherein Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) learned that Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) killed his trusted friend Athelstan (George Blagden).
"I think the time jump when we brought Bjorn forward did work, he told HitFix.
"We are going to do a significant time jump in Season 4 and I'm still working on that. But in general it's in real time almost. You don't want to jump forward ten years or you don't want to have a huge space in the show which allows people to speculate about what could have happened in the meantime. So that's a sort of half-answer for you."
Hirst also teased through Entertainment Weekly that Ragnar, who has been ill ever since the last few episodes of third season, might die, or not.
"We leave Ragnar at the end of season 3, hovering between life and death. That's very important for a while: Finding out whether he actually survives. But the other thing is that, because of what we saw happen to Rollo, I think we can surmise that one of the big events of the new season is going to be a final reckoning between the brothers, on just a much bigger scale than the first time around."
