Original 'Power Rangers' Cast Jason David Frank Talks About The Upcoming Reboot! Will Lionsgate Push Trough With The Project?

| By

After Lionsgate officially announced that "Power Rangers" movie reboot is happening, details about the film's development have remained scarce.

And while there has been a series of controversies, the latest news suggests that the project is indeed gearing up.

Following Roberto Orci's exit from the planned "Power Rangers" movie reboot, The Wrap exclusively reported that a new director has already been tapped.

"Project Almanac" director Dean Israelite is reportedly in final talks with Saban and Lionsgate to helm the "Power Rangers" movie reboot.

And while no cast has been confirmed in the movie yet, original green ranger Jason David Frank, who openly expressed his desire to star in the film, confirmed the news about Israelite.

"I don't know if he's 100%," he explained to Comic Book. "I know they're looking at him, but I don't think it's a done deal. I know they're in talks with him right now. They're still negotiating a deal. We'll see see who ends up directing this thing."

Furthermore, he admit that the studio companies have kept the project under extreme secrecy and that his large social media following is the reason why he has yet to hear anything about the project.

"It's pretty secretive, man," he said. "It's a big Lionsgate project, so I'm sure I'm the last guy they're gonna tell because I have a huge social media fanbase."

Lionsgate previously released an official statement about the planned "Power Rangers" movie reboot saying,

"With an extensive and extremely devoted worldwide fan base as well as a deep and detailed mythology, the Power Rangers are primed for the big screen,"

Frank, who has been in the series for the longest time begged Sabam to include him in the project again in a video he posted on Facebook.

"I wanna be in the real 'Power Ranger' movie," Frank said a video posted on his Facebook account. "You know what I mean? So Lionsgate let's get this stuff going on be in the real movie. I've saved my character for so long. And when I bring my character out in like in the movies or something linke that I want it to be legit. I want it to be a Saban blessing approved project."
