'Star Trek 3' New Villain Found? 'The Wire' Star Idris Elba In Talks To Play A Klingon Bad Guy? 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' Assassin Sofia Boutella Lands A Role Too

| By

While very little is known about the progress of "Star Trek 3," casting news has been rampant lately.

After Deadline reported that "Kingsman: The Secret Service" sexy assassin, Sofia Boutella has been included in the lineup for a still unknown role, Variety followed claiming that "The Wire" star Idris Elba is already in negotiation to play the new villain role for the sci-fi sequel.

If Elba and Paramount reached an agreement, the 42-year-old British actor will become the next "Star Trek" villain following Eric Bana and Benedict Cumberbatch.

"So far, the new Star Trek movie series has seen Eric Bana and Benedict Cumberbatch as villains," Fansided reported. "The question now is which villain will be picking up where the last two left off? Personally, it would be cool to see the Klingons take on the villain role. For a group so widely represented throughout Star Trek's TV series, their appearances in the recent films have been minimal."

While there's still no word about Elba and his would be role, the publication is suggesting that he could be the first Klingon villain and that "it would be great for the Klingons to get some love with a main role in this upcoming film."

"Star Trek 3" started shooting in Vancouver on April 15, with some scenes scheduled to be shot in parts of Seoul, South Korea Screen Rant reported.

"Fast & Furious" director Justin Lin has replaced Roberto Orci to helm the sci-fi sequel.

Returning cast Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin are reportedly gearing up as well.

J.J. Abrams, who directed "Star Trek: Into Darkness" is now producing with his production partner Bryan Burke and Skydance's David Ellison.
