Following confirmation that a "Furious 7" sequel is going to happen, the names of Paul Walker's brother, Cody and Kurt Russell who both appeared in the movie have started to come out.
Cody Walker, who replaced the "Fast & Furious" star with the help of CGI is rumored to continue his appearance in the franchise. The 64-year-old veteran on the other hand, is reportedly going to have a bigger role in the upcoming sequel.
Paul Walker's younger brother reportedly wants to continue his acting career with the help of "Fast & Furious" franchise.
"I'm not sure if they are going to make an eighth movie, but if they did, I'm sure he would entertain a conversation (about a role)," he told NYDailyNews according to Enstarz.
While his role is yet to be revealed, IB Times speculated that he could play an entirely different character from that of Paul Walker's Brian O'Conner since it's already been retired in the last scenes of "Furious 7."
Mail Online added that Cody's new character could "join the crew" following O'Conner's retirement.
"Paul's character Brian O'Conner will be seen retiring, while his younger brother will join the crew as a new character. Cody isn't a replacement for Paul in any way. It would be a tribute to Paul that Cody carries on the Walker name in the Fast and The Furious movies."
And as for Kurt Russell, who was introduced in "Furious 7," main man Vin Diesel cofirmed that there's something bigger install for the veteran actor during an interview with "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
Adding that the "Furious" family will be taking the car-chase franchise to the streets of New York.
However, while the cast seemed to be all set, there is an ongoing rumor claiming that "Furious 7" director James Wang is no longer helming the sequel.
The rumors sparked during an interview with The Daily Beast, where he said that former director Justin Lin should come back to the franchise.
"No one knows how much we went through to finish Furious 7," he explained. "I think it's a great idea for Justin Lin to come back. He had such a big part to do with where this series has gone, it would be amazing if he closed it out."
While he did not specifically say that he's not coming back, he did say that Universal Pictures would have to come up with better ideas for the story of the sequel.
"They really have to think about how they want to proceed with it, and in a lot of ways, the next bunch would almost be like finding a new start," Wan said.
Justin Lin on the other hand, refused to comment on the news.
