Mobile network company Sprint remains the third largest major carrier within the industry, following an almost six-month-long period of increased subscriptions.
Sprint experienced a gain of 1.2 million new customers during the first quarter of fiscal year 2015 alone, CNET reports. The company's subscription roster is now estimated at 57.1 million customers.
Despite longstanding claims of poor Sprint service, officials have assured customers and investors that significant improvements have been made.
"Some customers have this perception about the quality of our network, but then they realize the gap between our performance and Verizon and AT&T is not what it used to be," Chief Executive Officer Marcelo Claure said, according to the site.
Industry rival T-Mobile, which ranks fourth after Sprint as the largest mobile network, is posed to offer Sprint increased competition in coming months. The company announced a new campaign on Tuesday entitled "Never Settle," which is aimed at winning over customers from competing networks.
T-Mobile's campaign will begin on May 13.
"T-Mobile's 4G LTE network is the nation's fastest. Not faster for the price...just faster, period," T-Mobile Chief Executive Officer John Legere said in a statement.
"With T-Mobile, you don't have to settle for trickery, gimmicks and carrier BS the way you do with Verizon. I'm so confident in our kick-ass network experience that we're footing the bill so Verizon customers can give T-Mobile a try."
Verizon Wireless and AT&T hold first and second place respectively as the largest mobile networks in the United States.
