It's time for the TV stations to bring their final judgment on their own shows this season. First up is CW which already announced that eight of its most popular series will be getting another season. The question now, however, is whether the latest shows "iZombie" and "The Messengers" will be renewed or cancelled.
According to Zap2It's TV By The Numbers, "iZombie" will most likely be renewed but the same could not be said for the apocalyptic new series.
According to TV Series Finale, looking at a show's ratings is usually the best way to determine whether a show, new or old, will be facing cancellation or seeing one more season.
"The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival," the website mentioned.
Unfortunately, even The Man couldn't conjure better ratings for "The Messengers".
The new show revolves around five individuals who were affected by shockwaves from a meteor-like impact. They receive gifts and realize that they are actually the Angels of the Apocalypse. They have to stop the apocalypse as well as the devil (called The Man) who crashed to earth after being cast out of Heaven (once again).
Despite the interesting premise, the show received less than the desired ratings to secure a renewal. The first episode earned about 1.2 million viewers but the number started slipping up with every episode. Three weeks later, the audience is down to just about half a million.
According to reports, the dismal ratings solidify predictions that the CW decision-making staff won't have to deliberate much about whether "The Messengers" will be renewed or cancelled. TV By The Numbers believes the show has a 0% chance of getting renewed.
The website also noted that when a show is scheduled on a Friday night, "that's typically not a very good sign that they have much faith in it."
Will "The Messengers" be renewed or cancelled? Analysts say it won't be aired on the CW regular season again. Do you think the apocalyptic show should have one more chance?
