Finally, "Assassin's Creed" movie is on its way to the big screen.
Following the huge success of the video game, Ubisoft has agreed to work on a movie adaptation to the gaming franchise, which is reportedly in production now.
"We have the pleasure to announce today that the green light has been given by New Regency, and the production has already started,"Ubisoft's CEO Yves Guillemot said in the company's quarterly financial call according to Wired . "This is a very important milestone for the project and for our team on Assassin's Creed."
While not much has been revealed about the movie adaptation, "X-Men" star Michael Fassbender who's confirmed his involvement in the film is reportedly going to be joined by French actress Marion Cotillard.
According to Screen Ran the Oscar-winning actress has signed on a deal to join "Assassin's Credd" movie.
Meanwhile, Fassbender who has openly expressed his excitement with the movie said that while they will stay true to the game, the movie will have its "own version of things."
"You know, we absolutely want to respect the game," movie main cast Fassbender revealed. "There's so much cool stuff in the game that we're actually spoiled for choice in terms of what we can use and what we can't, but we also want to bring new elements to it and perhaps our own version of things that already exist in the game."
Furthermore, the 38-year-old German Irish actor shared his confidence with director Justin Kurzel who has been tapped to helm "Assassin's Creed" movie.
"I just think that there's one thing Justin should be doing, and that's directing," Fassbender said of the director. "I know that from working with him on Macbeth. He's just fantastic in terms of his vision. Adam, the DP that he works with, is amazing. They've got a great shorthand -- that's essential. He's fantastic with actors and each department. He's a real heavyweight."
"Assassin's Creed" movie release date is on Dec. 21, 2016.
