Deftones New Album All Set For A Q4 Release Date? Vocalist Chino Moreno Wants To Honor Late Bassist Chi Cheng By Releasing Tracks From 'Eros'

Deftones has seemed to have shied away from the public following the death of its bassist Chi Cheng from a tragic car accident Santa Clara, Calif. in April 13, 2013.

After the band released its last album titled, "Koi No Yokan," in 2012, Deftones is finally working on a new album that is expected to come out before the year ends.

Vocalist Chino Moreno told Rolling Stone that the American alternative metal band is going to introduce new tracks that were thought "outside of the box" without compormising their music.

"It's definitely a Deftones record, and it has all the elements that make us who we are," Moreno explained. "We're not going out there to change anything, other than just thinking outside the box."

Furthermore, Moreno shared that the band is really determined to bring something fresh to the listeners by challenging themselves more with this new Deftones album.

"I feel like we've gone into the songs and really dissected them," he explained of the new Deftones album. "If something sounded a little straight, we took a left turn and made things a little screwy. We just tried something completely opposite, not to sabotage it, but to challenge ourselves and try new things that we haven't done in the past."

Meanwhile, Moreno who has been devastated with the death of their former bassist, Chi Cheng, finally decided to open up about their unreleased album titled, "Eros."

"I get asked about that record a lot," the vocalist admitted. "For a while, I was giving the same answer, 'No, no, no, no, no, no, no.' After Chi's passing, I went back and listened to some of the record and it was a pretty intense experience, to say the least."

Following his devastation, Moreno now believes that loyal fans of Deftones should get to hear the tracks from their unreleased album by including some of the songs to their upcoming album.

"I think it should be released, but we don't have any definite plans," he explained. "There's some work to do on it. Deftones have been moving forward in a strong, positive motion, so for us to stop and reflect on something five years ago, I don't know if we're ready for that."
