In line with the infamous "Sony Hacking," WikiLeaks released a series of email exchange from Sony executives revealing what seems to be a plan for the upcoming live-action movie adaptation to the hit action-adventure game "Uncharted," Game Spot reported.
Based on the leaked emails, the movie would deliberately focus on Nathan Drake's origin story and his relationship with Elena.
"Chief among the changes were adjustments that dialed back the film's 'buddy movie' nature to make it more clearly 'Drake's story,'" Jonathan Kadin of Columbia Pictures said in the email adressed to Amy Pascal.
In addition, "We've added more to Elena's story with Drake so their relationship feels like the primary relationship in the story."
Furthermore, the leaked emails also compared the upcoming "Uncharted" live-action movie to that of Nicholas Cage's "National Treasure."
"It's also worth noting that the Nate and Elena relationship is a lot sexier and more fun than the Nic Cage-Diane Kruger relationship in National Treasure," an email comparing the planned "Uncharted" movie wot "National Treasure" said. "A lot more!! The romantic tension in National Treasure was pretty lame."
"National Treasure is fun no doubt, but Uncharted takes the action adventure movie to a more grounded, contemporary and visceral level, and we need to do that given what audiences have been exposed to since the National Treasure movies," he added. "So, we'll get the kids for sure, but we'll have a movie that can be strong enough--and 'cool' enough--for adults."
And as to who will play the role of Nathan Drake, according to an email dated May 2014, Sony Execs are supposedly looking at "Thor" star Chris Hemsworth. Names of Mark Wahlberg and Channing Tatum were also mentioned in the conversation.
Meanwhile, director Seth Gordon who has been tapped to replace David O. Russell to help the live-action movie adaptation of "Uncharted," told Zap2It that he is aiming for a 2015 production.
"I think very early next year. That's the plan," he said. "That's like tomorrow, essentially, because the prep is so complicated for the movie."
He also added that the shooting locations will be "very international" and "all over the world."
"Uncharted" live-action movie has been reportedly slated for a summer 2016 release date.
