Recent "Gotham" episode guide hints of return of Jada Pinkett Smith's Fish Mooney. The former mob boss has been away from the city for quite long after being to run away. In the next episode called "All Happy Families are Alike", also known as the finale, Mooney will return, all complete with a new look and eagerness to reclaim was used to be her own. The catch though is that might be the last people will see of the wife of Will Smith in the show. In earlier interviews, the 43-year old actress said she will not be seen in "Gotham" season 2.
The reason behind Smith's forthcoming exit is still unknown. Although this news has spread, showrunner Bruno Heller hopes "Gotham" season 2 will still have Jada Pinkett Smith in it.
"Personally I'm still hoping that Jada will be back," Heller said in an interview with Comicbook.com.
"One of the problems of making a show like this is that you need actors who can really be big characters. You either have bigness or you don't, and Jada is big in spades. She's done a wonderful job for us and nobody dies forever in the DC Universe, necessarily, so I'm hoping whatever happens at the end of this season that Fish can and will be back."
Jada Pinkett Smith's Fish Mooney is a character specifically created for the Fox TV series. She is not like the other major characters appearing in the show like Ben McKenzie's Jim Gordon, David Mazouz's Bruce Wayne, Robin Lord Taylor's the Penguin, and Cory Michael Smith's the Riddler who originally came from DC Comics. All these comics-based character are set to return in "Gotham" season 2 and have huge story arcs set for them.
While Fish Mooney is not likely to join "Gotham" season 2, fans still have a reason to be excited as there are new characters coming. This was confirmed by Heller in the same interview.
"We'll be creating characters that seem to have come from the DC Universe before," said Heller.
