"Vikings" season 3 has come to a close but not without any major revelations.
The History Channel original TV series ended its third year last week with the episode called "The Dead." The highlight of that episode is of course that ala-Trojan Horse scene wherein Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) faked his death to be able to infiltrate the French enemies.
That ploy by Ragnar hit two birds with one stone. The pagans from Kattegat did not only succeed in attacking Paris, Ragnar was also able to discover people's feeling about him.
The "Vikings" season 3 finale episode helped the lead character discover who killed his best friend Althestan (George Blagden), how his brother Rollo (Clive Standen) feels about him, and what her estranged wife Lagertha thinks of their failed relationship.
All these things Ragnar learned will play huge role in the storyline for "Vikings" season 4. However, what most fans want to know is, will Ragnar and Lagertha get back together after the latter's emotional monologue?
Series creator Michael Hirst said he likes the thought of seeing the former couple back in each other's arms. However, he backed off when asked if they will indeed become couple come "Vikings" season 4.
"I've always thought that he was lying in there with a little smile on his face!," Hirst told Entertainment Weekly in an interview shortly after the "Vikings" season 3 finale
"I'm like most of the fans. I would love to see them get back together. It's a great love story. They came from virtually nothing. It was a very passionate, close, loving family. Whether they're apart or together, they're still always in each other's consciousnesses. They're always thinking about each other. However, ironic Ragnar is sometimes-he jokes about Lagertha's ambitions and being an Earl. But of course, he's proud of her. He still cares."
"They're still very involved. How much more involved they're going to be, I'm not going to say. [Laughs] They'll never not be closely involved."
"Vikings" season 4 will likely air on February next year.
