Right now, the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is on a loose, definitely no strings attached on it.
According to reports, the Marvel movie has earned $200 million in the box office worldwide and is on phase to earn $2 billion. While the second installment of the 2012 superhero film is a sure hit, the studio is hoping the same fate for their TV offerings, particularly the ones in streaming site Netflix.
Those that are yet to air are "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" starring Krysten Ritter in the title role, "Luke Cage" starring Mike Colter, and "Iron Fist" which don't have an actor yet for the lead role.
Marvel films and their television projects share the same universe. Their first TV offering "Daredevil" starring Charlie Cox was a huge hit. Although the reception for film and TV are the same, Mike Colter of the upcoming TV series "Luke Cage" nails exactly why these two platforms are still different.
"There will be action in [the Netflix shows] but these characters are trying to live normal lives, unlike some of the other characters in the Marvel cinematic universe," Colter said in an interview while promoting the release of Halo: Nightfall on blu-ray and DVD.
"Those [Marvel movie characters] are first and foremost superheroes that are on a large platform. They've saved the world. But these [Netflix TV show] characters are really trying to focus on their neighborhood and New York City. It's a smaller story we're trying to tell."
There is not much details yet regarding Netflix TV series "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" but Colter assured that his and Ritter's shows will crossover and his character will have major contribution to Jessica Jones life.
"I don't want to give too much away about how much he's involved in the 'A.K.A Jessica Jones' show but Jessica and Luke Cage have a history and a relationship. I don't how much will be revealed in the actual series, but yes, I play an integral part."
"A.K.A. Jessica Jones" will air this year while "Luke Cage" will hit boob tube by 2016.
