After years in development, Marvel is finally moving forward with "Doctor Strange" movie with Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role.
Marvel officially announced that the Sorcerer Supreme's standalone film will hit theaters on Nov. 4, 2016, thus it's expected that shooting would start soon.
While the giant studio company has yet to reveal other cast members from the movie, Comic Book reported that director Scott Derrickson is already gearing up for a November shooting as the team prepares for a New York location.
"I've been talking about it for a long, long, long, long time, as we talked about Guardians (of the Galaxy) for a long, long time before it happened, and we talked about The Avengers for a long, long time before it happened, Kevin Feige told MTV.
"(Director) Scott Derrickson and the producing team are on a scout right now, finishing a scout in New York City for certain buildings thatDoctor Strange inhabits. They're on their way to London, where we'll be doing principal photography, starting in November. It's great. Benedict (Cumberbatch) has been on a bit of a whirlwind tour up until now, but we're so excited. We are as excited to have him as he is to be a part of this universe. It's always a nice combination."
"Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch has already expressed his excitement in filming.
"Excited, really excited, you know," the 38-year-old English star said about "Doctor Strange" at the British Independent Film Awards as reported by Mirror.
"There's a lot of work to be done and I'm just at the beginning of it all so I'm not going to talk too much about it's a thrilling gig to get and I can't wait. Very excited."
There have been reports that Marvel's "Doctor Strange" movie would delve into the origin story of Stephen Strange, Christian Today reported.
According to the publication, director Scott Derrickson has already been giving out hints.
The latest of which is a photo he posted on Twitter featuring Stephen Strange in a gurney where his hands were covered in bandages.
"Are you experienced?" The caption said.
The claims are backed up by Feige's previous interview with Screen Rant, where he said that Benedict Cumberbatch's portrayal of "Doctor Strange" is a great way to share the origin story of the Sorcerer Supreme.
"With Strange, it is a classic Marvel origin story because he's got one of the best origins ever," he explained.
"And it's our opportunity to take that left turn into the supernatural. Now, what is the definition of supernatural? It varies. We like the idea of playing with alternate dimensions. The very sort of crazy - [Steve] Ditko crazy acid trip way of traveling through dimensions and traveling through other realms is something that we think is very, very cool ... playing with the perceptions of reality."
