Now that "Furious 7" has surpassed Disney's "Frozen" records after reaching the $1 Billion mark, fans can't help but ask if a sequel is going to happen.
Main man Vin Diesel did not take too much time to officially announce a follow up movie to the car chasing franchise during Universal's CinemaCon panel.
However, the sequel has still no working title yet, but Diesel revealed that its release date would be on April 14, 2017.
"We're going to make the best movie you've ever seen," he said.
In a previous interview, the 47-year-old action star also said that the sequel was already hinted by the late actor, Paul Walker.
"Paul used to say that 'Fast & Furious 8' was guaranteed, and, in some ways, when your brother guarantees something, you have to make sure it comes to pass," said Diesel to MTV News.
Now that Diesel has confirmed the sequel to "Furious 7" movie, the followup question would most likely be, "what will happen to Paul Walker's character, Brian O'Conner?"
After the actor's tragic death from a car crash accident last Novermber of 2013, his younger brother Cody Walker has since replaced him to shoot some of the unfinished scenes from the movie with the help of CGI technology.
Reportedly, Cody wants to pursue with acting and wants to continue his brother's legacy by joining the "Fast & Furious" family,
"I'm not sure if they are going to make an eighth movie, but if they did, I'm sure he would entertain a conversation (about a role)," he told NYDailyNews according to Enstarz.
Furthermore, reports suggest that Cody could play an entirely different character from that of Paul's Brian O'Conner, IB Times reported.
A separate report from Mail Online previously revealed that after Brian O'Conner retired from the team with his wife and kids, his younger brother who will be played by Cody is about to "join the crew."
"Paul's character Brian O'Conner will be seen retiring, while his younger brother will join the crew as a new character. Cody isn't a replacement for Paul in any way. It would be a tribute to Paul that Cody carries on the Walker name in the Fast and The Furious movies."
Meanwhile, the "Furious 7" cast would bask in the success of its movie before working on the sequel as claimed by franchise producer Neal Moritz.
"Honestly, we're just bathing in the success of this," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "We'll probably get together in a week or so to talk."
But once all the "success bathing" is done, Moritz said that "Furious 7" sequel should be "as good as or better."
"[The story] is going to have to be something enticing for all of us," Moritz said. "It has to be as good as or better [than 'Furious 7'].
