Jennifer Livingston, a morning anchor with WKBT-TV in La Crosse, Wis., is fighting back against an offensive email she received from a viewer who criticized her weight.
During her morning show broadcast on Tuesday, Jennifer Livingston took a moment to address the sender of the letter who called her "overweight and obese".
"The truth is, I am overweight," she said. "But to the person who wrote me that letter, do you think I don't know that? That your cruel words are pointing out something that I don't see? You don't know me... so you know nothing about me but what you see on the outside and I am much more than a number on a scale."
Livingston continued, "That man's words mean nothing to me, but really angers me about this is is there are children who don't know better - who get emails as critical as the one I received or in many cases, even worse, each and every day."
She quickly turned the note more positive and thanked her family and friends that have supported her and come to her defense.
"I will never be able to thank you enough for your words of support and for taking a stand against this bully," she said. "We are better than this email. We are better than the bullies that will try to take us down."
Livingston's bold statement in her own defense made headlines around the world and today she told "Good Morning America" why she decided to speak out.
"This was a personal attack," Livingston said. "Calling me obese is one thing. Calling me a bad role model for our community that I've worked at for 15 years and especially for young girls when I have three girls was a low blow and I thought it was uncalled for and I wanted to call him out on it."
