The La Liga is not over so maybe it is not yet time for any Cristiano Ronaldo transfer news. The Portuguese football star and his team Real Madrid are still competing for Spain's first division trophy, albeit with lower chance, and the UEFA Champions League.
Despite all these, some clubs are already shopping for the services of the most recent Ballon d'Or winner. Among them, and probably the least expected to make a pitch, are Major English Clubs from Los Angeles.
Grant Wahl of Sports Illustrated reported the Real Madrid superstar is already decided to play in the city of angels which has two teams in the MLS. This is the first Cristiano Ronaldo transfer news for a long while as rumors he will leave the Spanish club died down late last year.
"You might recall my recent report that Cristiano Ronaldo's current plan is to join an MLS team when his Real Madrid contract expires in 2018. Well, I've learned that Ronaldo has now decided the city where he wants to be: Los Angeles," Wahl wrote on his Cristiano Ronaldo transfer news.
"It could be the Galaxy or LAFC, and while talks have yet to take place between Ronaldo and any MLS teams, L.A. is Ronaldo's preferred destination. Meanwhile, I'm told it's looking more likely every day that LAFC won't start play until 2018. That means we could see Ronaldo debut for a new team in a new stadium that year."
Cristiano Ronaldo has a $1 billion buy out clause so this rumor is probably not true. However, the fact that Ronaldo is already 34 by 2018 makes Wahl's news believable.
Over the years, MLS has welcomed several football superstars who dominated in Europe in their younger years. As they reach the tail end of their career, they transfer to the American league. Among them are David Beckham, David Villa, Kaka, and Thiery Henry. Steven Gerrard of Liverpool is also about to move to MLS by season's end.
