Wiz Khalifa's Paul Walker Tribute Song In 'Furious 7' - 'See You Again' Is Based On A Real-Life Car Accident

"Fast and Furious 7" is a big hit in the box office. Right now, the seventh installment of the action movie franchise has earned more than $1 billion in the box office, and counting, making it the fastest film in history to reach that amount.

The movie, directed by James Wan, completed such feat in just 17 days while other blockbuster films like "Avatar," "The Avengers" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" reached the billion dollar mark in 19 days.

Clearly, the unexpected death of lead star Paul Walker helped "Fast and Furious 7" attract more moviegoers. It also helped that other actors within the film like Vin Diesel and Tyrese Gibson revealed few days before the screening that there will be a tribute for their friend by the end of the film.

Speaking of tribute, it is not just the movie and people directed to it that are earning big time, even Wiz Khalifa thanks to his tribute song for Paul Walker called "See You Again."

Right now, "See you Again" by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth on the chorus has already been viewed more than 101,000,000 times two weeks since the original video was posted on YouTube. It has also become the quickest selling single of the year so far.

While the lyrics and tune of the song definitely fits the movie and Paul Walker's death, little did the public know that it was written based on a real-life event similar to what happened to the late actor.

In an interview with BET, Wiz said Charlie Puth told him that the lyrics of the Paul Walker tribute song was about a friend who died in a car crash. He also explained how he worked on the song to better pay tribute to Paul Walker.

"My whole objective [when writing See You Again] was to make something that everybody can connect with. It feels personal, but it's something that everybody can feel too," Wiz Khalifa said about his writing of the "See You Again" lyrics.

"It's not so personal that you're disconnected to it. Basically, that was my mind frame for it. Think about family in general. Not necessarily my family or someone else's family that everybody goes through in that situation."

Wiz Khalifa said thee Paul Walker Tribute song became even better with the help from people connected to the "Fast and Furious" franchise.

"I had a lot of good direction from the Fast & Furious people as far as the texture of the song and how they wanted it to feel. What was most important, too, was to make sure that it was a celebration of life. You know, to reflect on things, but also just to celebrate what we've been through."
