The Floyd Mayweather Jr. - Manny Pacquiao fight is more than a week away from happening but long before that, the two camps are already exchanging verbal blows.
Freddie Roach and Bob Arum have been attacking Pretty Boy's character ever since people requested of the fight between the two.
Mayweather, on the other hand, used to hit out at Pacquiao's desperation for money but then got more silent since they inked the contract in January this year.
While Pacquiao's camp is targeting Floyd Mayweather Jr., the latter has made the most ridiculous claim a long time boxing fan would ever hear. His comments were not about the fight against Manny Pacquiao. Instead it was about Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson, two boxers considered as the greatest of all time.
"No one can ever brainwash me to make me believe that Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali were better than me," Mayweather told ESPN.
"But one thing I will do, I'm going to take my hat off to them and respect those guys that paved the way for me to be where I'm at today."
To back his claim, he used Ali's defeat to a lesser known fighter and his "rope-a-dope" fighting style vs George Foreman.
"Leon Spinks only had seven fights," he said. "Never put a fighter in there with Floyd Mayweather with seven fights.
"Take punishment and let a man tire yourself out from beating you? You hit him with a few punches and go down and quit and you want to be glorified for that?"
Will the result of Floyd Mayweather Jr. - Manny Pacquiao fight affect this claim of the undefeated American fighter?
The fight of the century is on May 2 at the MGM Grand Arena. It is expected to earn at least $300 million, exclusive of sponsorship and pay-per-view profits.
