While it has been confirmed that "Mass Effect 4" is in the works, BioWare has yet to announce anything about its release date.
Could it be launched during E3 2015 on June 16-18?
Rumors and speculations suggest that the announcement could happen during the highly anticipated event following reports from Pachter claiming that the science fiction RPG is going to be released sometime in Q4:15 as reported by Video Gamer.
"FY:16 is expected to feature incremental releases Mass Effect 4, Mirror's Edge 2, a new Need For Speed game, and Star Wars: Battlefront, as well as meaningful re-orders for Battlefield Hardline, which launched in late Q4:15."
And while details of the upcoming game have been kept in secrecy, lead writer Mac Walters reveal that the team are trying to work on a sequel that would not include Commander Shepard in it.
"Well, I can't get into details, but the idea is that we have agreed to tell a story that doesn't relate necessarily to any of the Shepard events at all, whatsoever," he revealed to IGN.
"That's what we've been deciding for a while. But throughout it all, one of the key things is that it has to be 'Mass Effect.' It can't just feel like a spin-off. It has to feel like a 'Mass Effect' game at its heart, at its core. Just without the Shepard character or the Shepard specific companions."
While there is no direct confirmation that Commander will no longer be included in "Mass Effect 4" once released, others believe that the story could delve on his daughter Liara.
And while the current "Mass Effect" game has been under the fire, following its ending, BioWare's lead writer Mac Walter insisted that it's the only best way possible to end the story of Commander Shepard during an interview with Complex.
"It's been 18-19 months since it came out and my thoughts on it are that we addressed it the best we could in the Extended Cut," the game's developer said. "We're obviously not going to be changing anything now. We're only going forward."
And as the franchise progress, it has been confirmed by Senior Development director Chris Wynn that "Mass Effect 4" will now feature an all-new online multiplayer campaign.
"If anyone is concerned that online will take away from single player, I assure you that SP will be MASSIVE in the next Mass Effect," Wynn tweeted.
