Will a "Gears of War 4" release date finally be announced at E3 2015?
VC Post reported there is a big chance for Black Tusk Studios to launch the military science fiction third-person shooting game during the Electronic Entertainment Expo happening on June 16-18, 2015.
And while the gaming company has yet to release an official statement about the news, new GM Rod Ferguson, Hanno Lemke's replacement, assured fans that "Gears of War 4" is indeed well on its way as the development team is working doubly hard to release the game.
Xbox head Phil Spencer told Game Spot that while there has been changes witht the Black Tusk management, the game is making "massive progress" as it gets ready for its release date.
"The thing that was great about the early Gears of War games, to me, [was] just the epic scale of the settings that I was in," Spencer said. "The story, the setting was a lot more what I would call soulful and maybe even a little dark. And [Rod Fergusson] and I have talked about this; I think the game over time became almost more of a parody of itself; not for any kind of horrible reasons. It's hard to continue to manage the IP."
Furthermore, Spencer clarified rumors claiming that "Gears of War 4" would instead become a reboot to its prequels.
"I wouldn't call it a reboot, because I don't think the franchise necessarily needs that," he explained.
Adding, "I think we can make sure that we're investing in this thing for the next decade, which is how I want to think about it. The thing that was great about the early Gears of War games, to me, [was] just the epic scale of the settings that I was in. I think the story and the setting and what they're going through in a Gears of War-the name of the game, it really meant something to what that game was about. We've got to get back to that. The feeling of those individuals."
And while the game is coming to new generation Xbox One console, Black Tusk Studios developer Jack Felling said that it will not be available for Xbox 360.
"No, sorry, it won't be available on the 360, but it will be available for the Xbox One," he answered a fan on Twitter.
