Following announcement that Harmonix is going to bring a "Rock Band 4" for PS4 consoles, fans started to ask about when the release date could be.
While the gaming company has yet to reveal the exact date, Mad Catz announced that the musical-themed game will be hitting shelves this year.
Adding that it will include old songs from the previous game to "Rock Band 4."
"Due for release later this year on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, 'Rock Band 4' is going to BLOW YOU AWAY," it said on its statement.
"A love-letter to fans of the franchise, 'Rock Band 4' is set to take music gaming to the next level! In addition to a killer on-disc soundtrack, 'Rock Band 4' will support vast numbers of tracks released since the 2007 launch of the original 'Rock Band.' Harmonix is confident that day one, 'Rock Band 4' will deliver the most music, period!"

Furthermore, Alex Verrey, a spokesperson of Mad Catz explained that their company will take charge in the distribution and promotion of the game, while Harmonix will work on the sales and supervision of digital download content.
"Co-publishing the game allows us to work closer than ever before with Harmonix, delivering a seamless experience from game through hardware and ensuring that we focus on the needs of the gamer first and foremost," wrote Verrey (viaEurogamer).
And while the old plastic music intruments will also be available of use to "Rock Band 4" when it hits PS4 and Xbox One consoles, vg 247 claimed that Mad Catz is now working on new devices like wireless controllers that would bring better gaming experience to gamers.
However, Harmonix COO Alex Rigopulos said in a statement that the company will no longer produce and release yearly versions of the game to avoid overlapping of tracks, instead it will offer modifications and enhancement from the current game.
"Going forward, our goal is to view [Rock Band 4] as more of a live service where we can gradually and incrementally append new functionality to the core experience rather than having $60 annual title updates," Rigopulos told IGN. "You shouldn't expect a Rock Band 5 in 2016."
While he did not say anything about the release date of "Rock Band 4," project manager Eric Pope promised fans that the upcoming game will run on a 1080p resolution at 60 fps to provide better graphics and audio quality.
In an interview with We Got This Covered, he teased fans about the "more realistic" game.
"It's going to look 'next-gen' with more realistic lighting, character models, and animation," Pope said.
In addition, he added that "Rock Band 4" will take advantage of the new generation consoles' online gaming features as it will now offer multiplayer battle from gamers all over the world.
"What, to me, is more exciting is the online infrastructure of the consoles," he explained. "It will open a lot [of] opportunities for us to support the game in more reactive, timely ways."
