"Empire" TV series creators Lee Daniels and Danny Strong are not hiding their desire to bring in 'superstars' for their second season run.
Among them are Denzel Washington, Oprah, and Eminem. While this is definitely a good news, fans can't get their hopes too high as everything is still in negotiations. The schedule of the people mentioned above could be a hindrance in their casting.
If fans want a good "Empire" TV series cast news, here is one. On Monday, TV Line reported two fan favorites have been promoted to series regular. They are Gabourey Sidibe and Ta'Rhonda Jones.
The entertainment website wrote:
"Empire's put-upon assistants are finally getting some respect. Gabourey Sidibe and Ta'Rhonda Jones, who play Lucious' and Cookie's respective lackeys Becky and Porsha, have been elevated to full-fledged series regulars, TVLine has learned exclusively. (That noise you hear is Cookie fetching her own damn shoe.)"
TV Line added that the promotion of the two new "Empire" TV series cast regulars will take effect in season two.
While this "Empire" TV series cast news definitely has many Becky and Porsha rejoicing, they might feel sad with about the probable number of episodes for the second season. During an event in France, Daniels said "Empire" season 2 might not have 22 episodes just like what fans are requesting.
"They (Fox) want to do 22 episodes which I think is a nightmare. And I know you all want to see 22 episodes, but that will kill her," Daniels said pointing to Taraji P. Henson who plays lead role and fan favorite Cookie Lyon, the ex-con wife of Empire Enterprises CEO Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard). Henson concurs Daniels' feeling that more episodes will be a nightmare.
"It's a lot of work to make that good stuff. I know it's going to be more than 12 and it won't be 22." The storyline will dig deeper into the backstories of all of the characters, Daniels promised. "I know that we'll explore the reason why Cookie went to jail," for example. There will also be exploration of "what's happening in America today - and the pressure is on!"
"Empire" TV series season 2 will air early next year.
