Today Sony unveiled its new flagship for 2015 in a low-key announcement on its Japanese website and revealed monstrous specs that surpassed everyone's expectations.
As previously rumored, the Sony Xperia Z4 follows the Omni Balance Design of the Xperia Z3, though it is thinner at 6.9mm. It weighs 144-gram design and measures 146mm by 72mm and sports a 5.2-inch full-HD display which renders a 1,920 x 1,080-pixel screen, CNET reported.
Sony's 2015 flagship is an IP68 certified, IP6X dustproof rating, and is certified IPX5 and IPX8, and boasts a waterproof USP port.
''It's not only splash-resistant but can survive being totally submerged in water for an indefinite amount of time,'' CNET wote.
GSM Arena added that, 'the corners are built with resin to provide strength and entire phone has two-layer coating to retain the overall shine' and will be available in white, black, copper and aqua green
Underneath the aluminum steel case is the powerful 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 coupled with a 3GB of RAM. It also packs a 32GB onboard storage which can be expanded via a microSD card of up to 128GB.
Camera-wise, it carries the Xperia line's powerful camera trademark as it sports a 20.7MP Exmor RS shooter on its rear. Its main camera is capable of up to ISO 12800 with "camera shake correction"from its BOINZ image processor and has the ability to capture videos at up to 4K resolutio, or 1080p at 60fps. While its front snapper has a 5.1MP with full HD video capture.
In addition the Sony Xperia Z4 has a non-removable 2,930mah battery. It will be shipped running on Google's latest OS Android Lollipop.
As for its release, the Sony Xperia Z4 will be available in Japan mid of this year, but there are no wordings on its price yet. A representative of Sony also said that the company is "considering the feasibility in other markets."
