The NBA Playoffs bracket for 2015 has been set as the road to finals officially started yesterday.
While the 16 top teams of the league are busy laying out their game plans for their respective series, league officials have started their talks regarding the future of the NBA, especially the playoffs.
As fans probably noticed by now, there is a great difference between the Eastern and Western Conference by just looking at the NBA Playoffs bracket.
Some West teams who bowed out of the playoffs have better record than those who qualified in the East. This scenario also happened last year. Because of this, some are suggesting changes must be made to favor those with better overall records.
On Monday, several league officials sat down to discuss the future of the league. Among the thing they discussed was the NBA Playoffs bracket and format.
They reviewed a data over about 30 years and also took into considerations the rivalries between teams in each division and conference. However, there might not be any changes anytime soon in the format.
"When we presented all the data to the teams, what becomes clear is that there is no obvious solution," Silver said.
"It's not to say that we don't think there should be a change. I think this is one of these issues that is going to require a fair amount of discussion and study, not just directly among the owners in the big room, with committees as well."
"If you seeded 1 through 16, of course you wouldn't have that,'' he said. ''You'd just have one race to make the playoffs, so that's one factor."
"I have to say I am intrigued by that idea,'' Silver said. ''It's something we've talked about before."
Among those that suffered from the current NBA Playoff Bracket format is Oklahoma City Thunder which has a better record than Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, and Brooklyn Nets who all qualified in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
