The last few minutes of the latest "The Americans" season 3 episode titled "I Am Abasing Zadran" was tensed and have probably left watchers breathless. It was a scene between Matthew Rhys' Philip Jennings disguised as Clark and Alison Wright's Martha Hanson. Clark is married to the clueless Alison. She doesn't know she's just being used by the KGB agent to gain information from the FBI. This is one moment fans don't want to see yet. Many viewers sympathize with Martha this current season and with her finally Clark is not what he really is and the FBI on her tail, will Philip kill her just like what he did to Amador in the first season?
The critically-acclaimed FX spy series only has one episode left and Philip definitely has to decide what to do with his pseudo-lover/accessory for spying. "The Americans" season 3 episode guide for the finale has been released and there is no mention of Martha. Of course, this angle is just kept a mystery.
While there might be one major character set to leave, another one has returned. Margo Martindale's Claudia, the former supervisor of Philip and Elizabeth (Keri Russell) has returned in a scene together with Frank Langella's Gabriel who served as her replacement. Is she back for good? What does her return would mean for the Jennings couple? Martindale said there is a chance her character becomes a mainstay again. However, with only one "The Americans" season 3 episode left, she thinks executive producers Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields might just stick to the storyline involving Gabriel.
"No, no. I wanted to be, but they have to stick with their story," the veteran actress said when asked by The Hollywood Reporter if Claudia will become a series regular in the show which has already been renewed for a fourth season.
"They have gone a whole season really without me, and they had Frank Langella all season, who is just wonderful. They have the story to play out with Frank and everything that's happened on the show currently. They had to break their story for next season already now, too, so they're writing. I'll be able to pop up here and there on the next season. At least, I keep my fingers crossed that I will."
