Sony and Marvel finally made many fans' dreams come true when they announced their tie-up for the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot.
The much-awaited film is scheduled for release on July 2017, but we may see the web-slinging superhero in one of the Marvel's movies.
So how will both studios benefit from this deal?
According to Variety, Marvel can put Spider-Man in "Captain America: Civil War" without paying Sony for the rights. Sony, on the other hand, will have full earnings of the box office taken from their films that feature Spider-Man. However, they won't get any percentage of the earnings that Disney would make from Marvel's films that feature the superhero.
One of the stars of "Captain America: Civil War" recently shared some "Spider-Man" spoilers.
"However we spin it, we're going to try and defy the expectation of what it would mean," Robert Downey Jr. said as reported by IGN. The "Spider-Man" trilogy starred Tobey Maguire while "The Amazing Spider-Man" 1 and 2 featured Andrew Garfield.
The actor that plays Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man assured fans that they can expect the unexpected - but in a good way.
"That's been the directive from jump. But I think that a great job has been done with Spider-Man so far," Downey Jr. said. "And I think that the direction that Spider-Man is going to take is exactly what the fans would be delighted to see."
There have been rumors that we will see a young Peter Parker in the reboot. According to Variety, Sony is planning a high school setup for the character and the best candidates for the role are Dylan O' Brien (Maze Runner) and Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson).
Both actors are already in their 20s which makes them a bit old to be in high school. There have been speculations that Mateus Ward (Weeds) will be the new "Spider-Man."
According to Bad Ass Digest, the 16-year-old actor secretly auditioned for the role of Peter Parker in his own home. There's no word from the young actor yet regarding the rumors.
