Following confirmation that "Attack on Titan" season 2 is in the works, fans have been clamoring to hear announcement about its release date.
While previous reports from Otaku House suggest that the second season to the post-apocalyptic anime would hit the TV screens on July this year, however a new report coming from Crunchy Roll claimed that it will happen next year instead.
The cause of the delay was reportedly due to the manga itself. As per iDigitalTimes, the Wit Studios intentionally delayed the production to give some time for the manga to "get a little farther ahead."
Noting that the first season of the anime already featured more than half of what has been published in the manga.
VC Post backed up previous news that "Attack on Titan" season 2 is indeed having a 2016 release date noting that director Tetsuro Araki confirmed the claims to the release date following the opening of the movie compilation of "Attack on Titan Part 1: Crimson Bow and Arrow" last November in Japan.
The publication added that the story of season 2 will now focus on a boy named eren, to which it described as,
"Based on Hajime Isayama's manga, 'Attack on Titan' now on its highly anticipated season 2, tells the story of a boy named Eren who joins the Survey Corps in order to protect humanity against the unexplainable, giant, man-eating, Titans, the publication revealed. "Throughout the series Eren discovers shocking things about the titans that no man has ever witnessed, like humans being able to shift themselves into titans too."
And while fans anxiously wait for the second season, a spin-off prequel titled, "No Regrets, Birth of Levi," has been made available since December of last year, immediately followed by a second installment which has been released on April this year. In addition to the spin-offs, an upcoming live action movie is also set to be released this year.
