It seems like popular video games are following the footsteps of comic books when it comes to live-action movie adaptation.
With the likes of "Warcraft," "Assassin's Creed," "The Last of Us," "Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Metal Gear," Game Spot reported that the action adventure video game, "Uncharted" is also gearing up for a big screen debut.
Director Seth Gordon, who replaced David O. Russell, told Zap2It during an interview last year that he is aiming for a 2015 shooting.
"I think very early next year. That's the plan," he said. "That's like tomorrow, essentially, because the prep is so complicated for the movie."
Adding that the shooting location is going to be"very international" and "all over the world."
However, "Uncharted" live-action movie adaptation may experience some set back and a possible delay with release date, since no star has been attached to play the lead role of Nathan Drake yet.
"I want it to be a great actor," Gordon said. "That's number one, and then if it's someone who has an actual jaw, that's even better. The game is so well done that you need it to live up to that. There's no way we'd do the inverse of that where it's somebody famous who can't [act]."
Mark Wahlberg was once linked to "Uncharted" live-action movie, back when David O. Russell was still attached to the project, Game Spot reported.
Another factor being considered for the delay of the release date is the movie's plot, up until now there has been no concrete information about the live-action movie adaptation's storyline.
However, Gordon said that it will not be just a direct adaptation of the game, instead it will offer something more "interesting."
"It's going to honor the mythology of the game, but I would say honor some of the most interesting stuff from the first one and build from there," he explained. "There's some stuff that isn't in the game."
"I love the complexity and frankly the sophistication of the storytelling in the game, and we aspire to that--but don't want to tell the exact same story, of course--so something that doesn't break the rules of what it did but expands."
Adding, "Because I feel like the people who play the games and know them well don't want to just see the same story told. You want extra shades."
"Uncharted" live-action movie has been previously slated for a 2016 release date, but without any actors involved it is expected to be delayed for a year or two.
