Will DC Comics' "Wonder Woman" standalone film, featuring Gal Gadot ever make it to the big screen?
It seems like the project is not looking good following exclusive news that "Breaking Bad" director Michelle MacLaren who has been tapped to helm the "Wonder Woman" movie from Warner Bros. has left the team, Vanity Fair reported.
According to Hollywood Reporter, an official statement from the studio claimed that the issue was because of creative differences.
"Given creative differences, Warner Bros. and Michelle MacLaren have decided not to move forward with plans to develop and direct Wonder Woman together."
While the studio did not specify the details of the said "creative differences," it could be remembered that MacLaren has previously apparently told Vulture that "Wonder Woman" standalone film hasn't even been given a greenlight by Warner Bros.
"I really, really, really can't talk about this," MacLaren said trying to avoid the topic. "I just picture a drone coming in over the hills and crashing through the glass and flying over here and putting duct tape over my mouth, you know?"
While MacLaren's exit from "Wonder Woman" may cause a delay for its scheduled release date, Movie Pilot previously reported that the studio has hired six writers in addition to "Pan" scribe Jason Fuchs to make sure that the project is in the right direction.
Gal Gadot is still very much involved in the movie, where she will be introduced in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" on March 25, 2016.
In addition to the standalone film and the "Man of Steel" sequel, Gal Gadot is set to appear as Wonder Woman in another DC Comics movie adaptation, which has yet to be revealed, Variety reported.
