"Star Trek 3" has found a new cast!

Following her acclaimed performance in Matthew Vaughn's "Kingsman: The Secret Service" as a sexy assassin, Sofia Boutella has reportedly landed a role in the highly anticipated sci-fi adventure film to be directed by Justin Lin, Deadline exclusively reported.

The update comes in line with the previous report that "Star Trek 3" is going to start filming in Vancouver on April 15 this year according On Location Vacations.

In addition Screen Rant claimed that some scenes from the sequel is going to be shot in parts of Seoul, South Korea.

While no further details about "Star Trek 3" cast has been announced, Simon Pegg who's confirmed to reprise his role as Montgomery "Scotty" Scott is going to pen the script following Roberto Orci's exit.

The 45-year-old English actor who also stars in "Mission Impossible 5" together with Tom Cruise candidly shared his thoughts on working in the sci-fi sequel.

"It's terrifying!" he laughingly said when asked about how his experience in writing "Star Trek 3."

"It was a difficult decision," Pegg told Collider. "I hemmed and hawed about it, a little bit, because it felt like a big responsibility. I owe J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burke an awful amount. I love those guys. I want to do right by them, so I felt like I should man up and do it. It's weird to walk into something and take ownership of it, in a way. Everything else that I've written has been mine, from the very germ of the first idea, or shared with Edgar (Wright) or Nick (Frost)."

In a separate interview with Den of Geek, Pegg revealed that he had to do everything from scratch as he was not allowed to see Roberto Orci's previous work.

"We went back to the drawing board", he said. "We had creative meetings with [director] Justin Lin, and there were things he wanted in there. I haven't written like this before... You're given a bunch of stuff... so Doug and I go, 'Okay, right, let's try and get that into it'. So it's an interesting process."

While fans are excited for "Star Trek 3" to hit the big screen, there hasn't been any official announcement as to when the release date would be. Speculations however, point out to the franchise's 50th anniversary which is happening next year.
