Carrie Mathison and her political affairs won't be back soon. Still, that does not mean people cannot get any "Homeland" season 5 spoilers.
If last year Carrie (Claire Danes) and Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) spent most of the season away from each other, the next season could be worst.
A fan asked TV Line's Michael Ausiello for some "Homeland" season 5 spoilers and the writer's answer is somewhat bad news for the fans of the duo.
Quoting executive producer Alex Gansa, Ausiello said long-time friends and colleagues Claire and Saul won't start close (literally and figuratively) to each other.
"As we open the season, Saul is back in the CIA and Carrie is out of it," exec producer Alex Gansa shared. "So that's going to create, by definition, a distance between them."
TV Line added another "Homeland" season 5 spoiler, this time about the relationship between Carrie and Quinn (Rupert Friend). He said that just like with Saul, Carrie is far from where the hitman is.
"Carrie will also be apart from another former colleague - Quinn. Speaking of the almost-lovers, Gansa admits the writers room remains divided on 'how much of the connection between Carrie and Quinn... is actually romantic [versus] operational.'"
Adding, "How much is just that they recognize each other so well? How much is the desire for both of them to move on past this job that they do. Those are the questions that we're wrestling with. We wrestled with them last season. We're wrestling with them again."
Aside from the "Homeland" season 5 spoilers above, other things to expect from Showtime TV series when it returns is the time jump.
Earlier reports have it that the fifth season of the political series will be set three years since the events from season 4. The new season will also see the location get moved to Germany with Carrie having little to nothing to do with CIA.
"We're shooting in Germany," exec producer Alex Gansa announced at PaleyFest Friday last month. "Carrie will no longer be an intelligence officer."
