After the announcement of the HTC One M9 at MWC 2015, the giant phone company was rumored to be in the works of another variant of the flagship.
Though the Taiwan based phone manufacturer has been tight lipped about the Plus variant of the HTC One M9, today HTC officially launched the HTC One M9 Plus in Beijing, China, GSM Arena reported.
The HTC One M9 Plus is an upgraded variant of the HTC One M9 which features a 5.2-inch QHD (1440 x2560 pixels) display. It is powered by a 2.2GHz MediaTek MT6795T chipset coupled with an octa-core CPU and 3GB RAM. Like the HTC One M9, it is shipped running on Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC Sense 7 and the same the same UltraPixel selfie snapper and 20 megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 lens.
A 2840 mAh battery is baked in the One M9 Plus and sports a fingerprint sensor that supports Alipay in China.
During the official launch of the One M9 Plus, HTC also explains why the gadget has been exclusive in China, BGR added.
''HTC is excited to bring the HTC One M9+ to customers in China, where we have worked closely with mobile operators to create a phone with the right balance of screen size, processor performance, software, and radio network compatibility to meet consumers' needs. Ranging in other markets will be confirmed locally at a later date,'' the statement read.
As for the HTC One M9 Plus release date in North America and Europe, it was noted on the official statement that HTC will not bring the One M9 Plus in these regions.
''The One M9+ is not currently planned to be released in North America or Europe, where we believe our flagship HTC One M9 is the best choice for blazing fast performance, incredible sound, and network compatibility across the broadest range of operators.''
