"Metal Gear Solid" live action movie is well on its way to the big screen.
Sony Pictures Entertainment, who also owns the rights to other video games movie adaptations such as, Angry Birds, Heavy Rain and Rollercoaster Tycoon has recently hired acclaimed British writer Jay Basu to pen the script for "Metal Gear Solid" live action movie.
Deadline reported that the upcoming big screen adaptation of the hit video game title will be helmed by "The Kings of Summer" director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, in production by Avi and Ari Arad of Sony's "Spider-Man" series.
It was once reported that famous game creator, Hideo Kojima, considered releasing "Metal Gear Solid" live action movie adaptation with "X-Men: Apocalypse" star Hugh Jackman as the lead star.
However, the idea was scrapped as Sony Pictures reportedly decided to get a newcomer instead. While Kojima's involvement in the upcoming game sequel titled "Metal Gear Solid: Phanton Pain" has been confirmed despite rumors stating otherwise, his involvement with the movie adaptation is not yet clear.
"Metal Gear Solid"' was first released in 1998 for the PlayStation console under the development of Konami and direction by Hideo Kojima. The game followed the story of Solid Snake, a retired operative who was again broght to the field due to a renegade terrorist called, Foxhound.
The action-adventure stealth game, sequel to the MSX2 versions, "Metal Gear" and "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snak," immediately gained popularity with six million copies sold following its release.
Together with the live action movie "Metal Gear Solid" will also release a fifth installment to the gaming franchise title which is reportedly going to hit the shelves in September.
