It is almost two months now since the NBC TV series "Constantine" aired its last episode.
However, the network hasn't released any words yet regarding its extension. Although the show struggled in ratings in general, many are still hoping for "Constantine" season 2 because of the great reviews from critics and most importantly, the faithful portrayal of Matt Ryan of the titular role.
In the latest news about possible "Constantine" season 2 renewal-cancellation, fans of the supernatural detective might have to take a backseat beat as according to show developer Daniel Cerone, it is "technically cancelled."
Although he said that, the writer-producer still believe his show will be extended, especially with the fact that other shows airing on the same hour as them pull off lower ratings than "Constantine."
On his Twitter account, Cerone said NBC will decide whether there should have a "Constantine" season 2 or not by this April.
To get a better result from that discussion, Cerone encourages fans to stream the available episodes and spread the word about how good of a series "Constantine" is.
"Anyone putting money in studio coffers by purchasing #Constantine in any form will motivate studio to find a home for show," he told a Twitter user asking how he can help in making "Constantine" season 2 possible.
Back in December last year, shortly after it was revealed that "Constantine" will not get more episodes, Matt Ryan expressed confidence they will return because of his show's potential.
"I am confident and I'm hopeful. There is a huge fanbase for the comics out there, and I don't really read press myself, but I'm on Twitter, and the feedback we've been getting from the fans is the show is getting stronger, finding our feet, and moving forward," Ryan said according to Wales Online.
"The show and what we have set up has such potential, and has such potential for Warner Bros. and DC and NBC.
"I'm a fan of the comics, and... I'm not done with this character. I don't feel like I've fleshed him out completely yet."
